Malcolm Monteiro is currently Senior Vice-President & Area Director for South Asia Area of DHL Express, the market leaders in Express Delivery Service industry. Malcolm is also a member of the Asia Pacific Management Board of the company. He is based in Mumbai at the DHL Express South Asia Area office which is responsible for international and domestic express operations in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives. Malcolm also represents DHL’s interests in the Blue Dart Aviation, the cargo aviation business unit.

Malcolm started his career in the manufacturing sector before joining the market leader, Blue Dart Express in 1989 as Vice-President Operations. He held a number of senior management roles in IT, Sales & Services before taking over as Chief Operating Officer of Blue Dart Express in 2001. In March 2006 he was promoted as the Managing Director of Blue Dart Express, subsequent to acquisition of the company by DHL Express.

During his tenure as Managing Director of Blue Dart, he has overseen the induction of several new aircrafts and led continued high growth in the Domestic Express business in India. During this period, he has also ensured a smooth transition in aligning the Blue Dart domestic express business with the wider DHL Network plan.

Malcolm secured his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering in 1975 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai and completed his Post Graduate program in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, in 1977.

He had sailed on board foreign going merchant ships of Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, Mumbai from 1980 to 1997, the last six years 6 of which, he was a Chief Engineer.  He picked up his expertise in Container Refrigeration during his stint ashore with Carrier Transicold from 1999 to 2001 as Customer Service Manager, Reefer Container Products, South Asia, during which he had set up the service office and spare parts depot for the region of South Asia. He is presently working as Training Superintendent for Fleet Management Training Institute, the Mumbai based training arm of Fleet Management Limited which is a Hong Kong based Shipmanagement Company providing technical management and manning for over 175 ships of various sizes and types including container ships and reefer vessels.

He is a reefer container trainer and consultant and had conducted many training programmes for seagoing engineers of various shipping companies. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Management through Distance Mode from BITS, Pilani, India on Inland usage of Refrigerated Containers for mitigating Post Harvest Losses of Horticultural Crops in India.

He is a regular contributor of articles for many technical journals and shipping magazines on topics related to cold chain, logistics, post harvest management and refrigerated containers.  He has made several presentations in many conferences and seminars on the above topics. He has written a book titled  CONTAINER REFRIGERATION, which is being published by Witherbys, UK. The book is in its final stage of editing and is expected to hit the stands in August 2007.

Neil is a founder and director of Herculea Inc, a Dallas, Texas-based provider of global transportation solutions to various industry sectors. Herculea has a number of subsidiaries around the world supporting various customer-specific logistics activities.

Herculea’s largest subsidiary is Houston-based ProShipLine Inc, on whose board Neil also sits. ProShipLine sells capacity of the conventional vessels of its principals around the world and has developed a niche service in the ocean transportation of oversized and heavylift cargo from the US and Europe to the Middle East and India. Neil was also a founding director of the shipping subsidiary of Suzlon, an India-based global wind energy company.

Since 2004, Neil has been retained as management consultant to SC Fulfil, a Singapore-based company which manages more than 100,000 logistics transactions per month for HP and within this has responsibility for the door to door transportation of more than USD20bn of goods pr annum.

Neil is also a director of SC Fulfil. Neil also sits on the board of TradeNet Services, Asia’s largest outsourced customs brokerage document processor, OneXpress, a niche courier, express and parcel operator and Fincorp, a Hong Kong-based provide of management services to the hotel and food and beverage industry.

Neil is in demand as a speaker and moderator to logistics and transportation-focused industry gatherings in Asia and was Chairman of Air Freight Asia 2006, Asia’s largest gathering of air freight focused business and cargo airlines and is also sought after as an industry expert for government level focus groups on the transportation industry.

Presently based in Singapore, from where he travels frequently within Asia and to the US and Europe, Neil has also spent a significant amount of time in Hong Kong, Belgium and Russia. Ralf Jahncke, graduated from the top logistics university of Germany, Polytechnical College of Heilbronn, with specialization in Transportation, Freight Traffic and Management. His thesis on "The development of multimode transportation – Challenges and Solutions" was published in a famous German publication.

He started his career in mid-level management in 1983 at a large multi modal transportation company, Kombiverkehr, and in 1988 he moved on to serve as Managing Director of the company. He later joined D. Logistics AG, Germany, as Chief Sales Officer, before heading CSC Cargo Service Center B.V., Netherlands, as Chief Executive Officer.
